  • Who can receive a wish?
    Adults who are at least 50 years of age with a terminal illness, may be referred to Bucket List Foundation. An adult recipient's treating physician will determine if the senior is medically eligible for a wish, based on the medical criteria established by Bucket List Foundation.
  • Do you grant wishes to children?
    No, Bucket List Foundation only grants wishes to adults age 50, at the time of referral.
  • Does an adult senior's illness have to be terminal in order to qualify for a wish?
    Yes, an adult recipient must have a terminal illness certified by a physician.
  • Does an adult senior citizen have to be receiving hospice services?
    No, an adult recipient does not have to be on hospice services. In fact, some of our wish recipients are actively receiving aggressive treatment for their illness.
  • Can an adult recipient receive more than one wish?
    No. Bucket List Foundation grants one wish to each eligible adult.
  • Who can nominate someone for a wish?
    Anyone can nominate a senior citizen for a wish. We receive wish submissions from medical and hospice staff, families, friends and even the wish recipient themselves.
  • How do you decide which adult senior citizen receives a wish?
    When a wish is submitted, a representative of the organization will contact and set up an interview with the senior wish recipient. After all information is obtained and verified, it will be presented to the Wish Committee for review.

  • Are there any restrictions to a wish?
    Bucket List Foundation follows specific policies and guidelines for granting an adult recipeint's wish. Some wishes have restrictions based on various factors, including the adult's medical condition and terminal illness in relation to the wish request. Bucket List Foundation takes into consideration all factors as they relate to the wish and the wish adult, and then plans the wish accordingly.
  • Does the family have to pay for the wish?
    No, all wish expenses are fully covered by Bucket List Foundation for the wish recipient and sometimes one caregiver. Wishes are arranged and paid for by Bucket List Foundation with no out-of-pocket expenses for the wish family.
  • Does the family have to meet financial criteria in order to be eligible for their child to receive a wish?
    No, Bucket List Foundation grants wishes to adult recipients who qualify for our services without regard to race, creed, religion, sex, or economic status.
  • Is there a waiting list to receive a wish?
    No, however, in some situations a wish recipient may have to wait for their wish due to external circumstances such as the adult's treatment schedule, health status or the availability of a popular celebrity. If the fulfillment of a wish must be delayed for any reason, the wish recipient and family are fully informed, and the wish recipient is given the option to either make another wish request or wait.
  • How long does it take to be acknowledged when a wish has been submitted?
    A representative of Bucket List Foundation will contact the primary wish nominator within 5 business days of receiving the request.
  • How long does it take to grant a wish from referral to fulfillment?
    In most cases wishes are fulfilled within a few months. However, it is not easy to specify how long it takes from wish referral to wish fulfillment as it often depends upon the wish requested. In imminent situations, sometimes wishes may be fulfilled within weeks; however, this is not guaranteed.
  • How much does a wish cost to grant?
    Wish costs vary greatly depending on the wish requested. Some wishes are very simple, and the wish goods or services may be donated, costing Bucket List Foundation nothing. Other wishes can be very elaborate and cost thousands of dollars. Whenever possible, Bucket List Foundation seeks in-kind donations to help defer wish expenses.
  • Do you offer medical transport, medical or nursing assistance to support a wish?
    Yes. In certain situations, we will provide medical or nursing support to the senior wish recipient on their wish.
  • What are your sources of funding?
    Bucket List Foundation receives financial support from a number of sources. Contributions come from individuals, corporations, and private and foundation grants. Bucket List Foundation also relies on in-kind contributions as well which help to lessen the cost of goods and services.
  • Are you affiliated with other companies claiming to be associated with the Foundation?
    No. We have learned there are other companies claiming and even receiving donations using our trademark name. We do not have affiliates in any other states. Some names we are not associated with are: Mybucketlistfoundation.org, Fillyourbucketlistfoundation.org, Bucketlist.net.
